Warum Barthes?
“If I was getting neoclassicism from Joy Division, then I was getting Nietzsche from Bowie, constructivism from Kraftwerk, Camus from The Cure. In a way, we intellectually-minded teenagers of that time were the last modernists, with our pop art and our Penguin Classics paperbacks; the very last generation that could read a novel by Sartre and still think it might hold the key. Just a few years later Joy Division had turned into New Order, I was studying Communications and reading Barthes, and the paradigm had irrevocably changed.”
Hugo Wilcken, The Wire 299, Januar 2009, S. 90.
